Orange Park Acres sits in the east of Orange California and is a highly regarded equestrian community known for it's extensive trail systems.  It consists of approximately 640 acres and is developing into an area of large estate homes which is in contrast to the once rural community it was.




The community is served by the Orange Unified School District as well as many of the private schools nearby including Orange Lutheran High School.





It was in 1953 that the Orange Park Property Owners Association was created by then residents in a response to the threat of annexation into the City of Orange. They wanted to keep their rural community characteristics without influence from the City of Orange. There were approximately one hundred and fifty families living in the area at the time.  This way of life and development remained the same up until the 1970's

The 1970's saw much change and development for Orange Park Acres.  Thirty five homes were first developed in Grovewood in 1972.  Deerfield was also created bringing eighty homes to the area.  It was 1974 when the gated community The Wilderness was built with one hundred homes as well as horse facilities.  And in 1975, thirty-six equestrian homes were built one acre lots.   


One of the bigger years for development in Orange Park Acres was the year 1976.  Broadmoor was created with equestrian facilities, a lake and two hundred and two homes.  Forty-eight homes were built in Pheasant Run with horse facilities as well as another thirty five one acre properties in the equestrian community of Lazy Creek.  Twenty four half acre properties were built in the Kennymead Merkel development, also equestrian properties.


Orange Hill and High Horse Trails added an additional two hundred and twenty three homes.  Shortly there after, Orange Park Acres was annexed into the City of Orange resulting in the community it is today.  

The community of Orange Park Acres is varied and diverse with a culture that is all of its own.  You can find original homes and luxurious estates sitting side by side.  There are of course homes on smaller than one acre lots, but as the name implies, this is Orange Park Acres and the most sought after homes are on one acre lots.


The residents of Orange Park Acres are proud of their community and open space and are willing to work for the preservation and all that makes Orange Park Acres the special place that it is.  There have been battles over the years to develop what is left of the open space in the area.  Many believe that the personality of OPA would change should the open space be developed and higher density housing was built.  So far, the citizens have prevailed in keeping Orange Park Acres what it is and saving the open space for generations to come.
